Rear derailleur won't shift to smallest cog
WebbSo I was tuning my newly acquired bike today and working with all 8 gears on the rear derailleur. I managed to properly set the high limit screw as well as cable tension so all gears shift smoothly from 2-7. However, when I try to shift to 1st gear, the derailleur won’t move and neither will the shifter. The cable tension is too tight. WebbShimano GRX 812 rear derailleur adjustment. My Shimano RD (1x setup) won't shift into 11th gear. I see it's not aligned with the cog perfectly. So I see 3 screws: H L and one in the middle which moves the lower pulleys back and forward (don't know how to explain). Anyway I was moving The H all the way in and out and couldn't see any difference.

Webb1 sep. 2015 · If the bike has multiple front chainrings, shift the front derailleur to the largest chainring, then shift the rear derailleur to the smallest cog. Even if you are already in the smallest cog, keep clicking your rear shifter to make sure there are no clicks left in the mechanism. This makes sure that the rear shifter is fully actuated outward. Webb15 juni 2024 · To check it put your fingers on the 30T cog and rock it back and forth. It shouldn't move. The -16 trim is a giveaway that there' an issue with the cassette position. The trim should be near 0. Lastly, check your high limit screw and make sure the screw isn't preventing the derailleur from shifting to the smallest cog.
Webb20 maj 2024 · IOW: The outside limit screw is the high limit in top-swing but the low-limit screw if bottom swing. The shifter is compatible with Shimano mountain 10 speed. The left/front shifter is friction and handles either 2 or 3 chainrings. The T6000 front derailleur is triple only. – Jeff. Webb25 sep. 2024 · You can back all of the tension off the cable and it still won't shift down, the high limit screw is backed out so far that it's not even touching the stop. B-screw is adjusted per Sram specs. You can shift down, and give the derailleur a little nudge and it'll finally shift down, but otherwise, no.

When you move your left shifter to the big ring position, you pull cable, and that pulls your FD to the outside position. The same principle applies to the rear derailleur, which rests on the smallest cog, and gets pulled to the big cog.
